Well the bite of Bozeman was a bit of a bust, we got rained out after 15 minutes. Fortunately Hans and Sue Anne invited us over for dinner so we took them up on it. Then went to Livingston and stayed with Kory and Sheena for the evening. The next day we met Dean and Carmel for lunch and then took a short ride before heading out of town for Gardiner.
So we drove up to Gardner to hang out and get ready to attack Yellowstone tomorrow. Starred off beautiful but then it really started to get stormy. The hail was epic as was the rain, thunder, and lighting. Kind of exciting for this Alaskan!
We made it to Bozeman, strange since I haven't been back here for 7 years. So far we have caught up with some old friends, went to some of my favorite places and ridden the Bangtail divide tail, complete with a hail/thunder storm mid-ride. Fun to be back, we're going to hit the bite of Bozeman now once another storm blows through.
Took a ride on the cdt trail out of homestake toward Pipestone. It was amazing and so much fun! Had a great view of Butte and it was only in the mid to high 80's.
So we were a bit worried about leaving the van for 5 days while we biked around to Hamilton. Turns out we were gifted with a bumper sticker. Hopefully we continue to have this kind of luck at trailheads. Now we are hanging out at Home stake pass living the dream in the van.
Yeah team - we made it to Hamilton from Deer Lodge. First stop was to get pizza and a beer for me at Higherground brewing co. Next up was getting picked up by Jeff & Emily for a car ride into Missoula. Last stop was ice cream at the big dipper. This last section was the most fun with no hiking involved just biking. We also found a great spot to camp at Spillway campground and even enjoyed a fresh trout caught by our neighbors. All in all a fun week spent on the bike and an adventure:)
It's been a fun and restful time in DL but we are eating breakfast and hitting the road. Found a great little cafe for breakfast burritos.
