Dear Lodge

It's been a fun and restful time in DL but we are eating breakfast and hitting the road. Found a great little cafe for breakfast burritos.

Helena to Deer Lodge

So we decided to do a little bikepacking. It was an adventure to say the least! We of course had fun and enjoyed some biking, camping and hiking:) Hanging out at the travel lodge in Deer Lodge and getting ready for tomorrow's fun.

Glacier National Park

Next up we hit Glacier National Park.  Unfortunately, there is currently a big fire burning on the Going to the Sun road, so we headed in from West Glacier until the road closure, then took a hike up to a cool back country chalet.  Then we headed around the park to the south where we camped last night.  We awoke to grey skies and rain shortly after so we drove up to many Glaciers Lodge, but skipped the hike today since it had been raining steadily all day.  I'm sure the firefighters are thrilled to have the help though.

Whitefish, we found Rob!

Sadly I failed to take a single photo while we were there, but we did have a great visit with Rob and Krista.  We stayed with them Friday and Sat and checked out the area.

Stevensville, tiny house and dogs!

We caught up with Megan in Stevenson, got some great time visiting with her, Brad and Martha and of course the dogs.  We also got a tour of the tiny house.

Van Lake - Montana

Found another great free camping spot. We camped at van lake and got to try our pack rafts on the lake. So much fun! -k

Seriously, it was called van lake, how could we pass that up -j

Sheep mountain

Followed a map from online for an "epic" ride today from rattlesnake gulch up over sheep mountain and back.  It was brutal, lots of bike pushing, 26 miles took over 4 hours.  The last 6 or so miles was super fun though.

Missoula!

Made it to Missoula and we are hanging out with Jeff & Emily. We get to catch up on puppy time with Sadie. So happy to be hanging out with friends.

Kettle Crest

We took a nice scenic drive towards Missoula and found some fun mountain biking. Really nice trails although it did feel like we road up hill the whole time. -k

It was awesome, lots of great climbing and fast fun descents too.  I had no idea that this area of WA even existed.  Also drove through Omak on the way there, brought back fond childhood memories, we tried to find the Jones's old house, but I couldn't quite place it after nearly 25 years since I was last there. -j

Methow is good

We stopped at the bike shop when we got to town and Kara immediately spotted the tires that I had been trying to get on what appeared to be a demo bike out front.  Winds up it was owner Joe Brown's bike and he was kind enough to sell me the tires off his bike at a discount since were used and new ones are on backorder, then offered for us to camp in his yard.  Huge thanks to Joe and his wife Julie.  We rode the Twisp River trail on Thurs and Buck Mountain on Fri, wandered around town, wallowed in the river and listened to the Winthrop blues festival from afar.  Good times in Winthrop!

Winthrop WA

We made it to Winthrop and are currently hanging out & camping by the river. The perfect van lifestyle. Great mtb riding and we are having fun just cruising around. I got John to go window shopping in town with me for about 10 minutes before he needed ice cream. I was told it was an emergency situation. Ha:)
