We like Central BC

Central BC is a pretty nice place, we moved through fairly quickly, but did manage to ride the trails at Watson Lake and Mile 108 House.  Watson lake trails were nice groomed singletrack that had some steep up and down sections and a nice sustained climb as well.  Mile 108 House was great hand built trails like the ones that I remember riding when I was a kid but better.  Two thumbs up to both places.

Back in the US

We made it back to the US and even got to see some fireworks in bham. Glad to be back but I could easily live in Whitehorse or Smithers. Need to find that perfect outdoor mecca in the states.

Mile 108 House

Had a great little ride on some sweet old school single track. Loved it and could have ridden several laps on this one.

Smithers BC

Smithers is great, it's a little outdoor mecca on the east side of the coastal range in central BC.  We met up with Jen we met in Whitehorse and she very generously let us take a shower and do laundry at her house, then showed us the trails the next day.  Thanks Jen!!!

Stewart and Hyder

Sadly we missed the Canada day parade on Stewart, but caught the tail end of the town BBQ. It's a sleepy little place.  We wandered around, then headed over to Hyder to check out the park.  Beautiful views of salmon glacier.  Unfortunately, we got stuck overnight since the only gas station in town closed at 5pm for Canada day and we didn't have enough fuel to make the next gas station.

Cassiar hwy

The Cassiar was amazing, way more scenic than the Alcan, good road surface and less traffic too.  We did have a little issue in Dease Lake where we got caught behind a wreck where there was a fatality and they shut the road down for 12 hours to investigate.  We just camped nearby and continued in the morning, unfortunately we wound up missing the Canada day celebrations in Stewart because of it.

Farewell Whitehorse

We took one final bike ride before departing Whitehorse just like we found it, grey and rainy. But this place is awesome, highly recommended for anyone that likes to bike, hike, xc ski or generally play outside.

We tested out the trails on the west side of town this time and they were equally awesome to the east side where we've been riding.
